Thank you for your interest in my blog,  The TaxDoc Spot.  I am John Stancil, the TaxDoc.  I am professor of Accounting at Florida Southern College, teaching tax and other courses.  I hold a doctorate in accounting from the University of Memphis. Hence, the TaxDoc moniker.

I have taught accounting at the college level for over 30 years.  I am a CPA, passing all parts of the exam on my first attempt.  I also hold the professional certifications of CMA, CFM, and CIA.

In addition to my teaching duties, I also maintain an accounting practice, focusing mainly on tax issues.  You can visit my webpage www.johnstancilcpa.com for additional information, including my newsletter and links to important tax information.  My website has secure document transfer capabilities, enabling me to service clients world-wide.

While I like teaching and tax work, I really enjoy writing.  For two years until it ceased publication, I wrote “Taxation Talk” for the Polk County Business Journal.  I have published articles in The Encyclopedia of Business in Today’s World, Strategic Finance, The Palmetto Journal, among others. I am on the Editorial Review Board for Strategic Finance and Management Accounting Quarterly. I have presented papers at academic conferences and have spoken to numerous community organizations.

I also participate in community service.  I serve as Treasurer of His Nets, Inc. an international organization devoted to reducing the incidence of death through malaria.  I am head of the Finance Team at Legacy Christian Church, a member of the advisory board of PowerPoint Ministries, and serve as a consultant to other not-for-profit organizations.  I am also a member of the Financial Stability Partnership for United Way of Central Florida.

I am a volunteer tax expert on the website, allexperts.com. I have been the number one expert on this site for the years 2006-2008.

I welcome your feedback about this site, as well as your questions and suggestions for future blog topics.
